Strafford County Warming Center Activation

Due to forecasted snow and cold temperatures, the Willand Warming Center at 30 Willand Drive in Somersworth, NH will open overnight on Wednesday, December 16th and Thursday, December 17th, to provide a warm, safe shelter space for housing insecure neighbors in the Tri-City area and Greater Strafford County. The warming center will be open to guests from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Partners and municipalities are asked to help transport at-risk/unsheltered clients to the Warming Center if possible. The COAST bus system has generously agreed to transport anyone seeking the Warming Center to the closest bus stops at no cost. Those stops are on Bus Route 1 via High Street at Holy Trinity Church and Bus Route 12 via 108-N at Midway Buick. Warming center clients will receive transportation assistance back to their home community or community partner agency of choice each morning when warming center operations stand-down for the day.

The official opening date for the Willand Warming Center remains Sunday, December 20th, 2020. Preparations and facility upgrades are ongoing through that date. Additional information regarding operations and available resources will be shared as readiness allows.
