City of Rochester to host public listening session to inform the future of Nancy Loud School

The Public Information and Community Engagement Office for the City of Rochester is pleased to announce an upcoming listening session to hear public input regarding the future of the recently decommissioned Nancy Loud School.

The aim of the listening session is to allow for residents to speak to city officials directly about what they would like to see happen with the property. There will be a microphone for residents to speak on their positions. Each individual will be limited to 5 minutes in order to allow as many speakers as possible. Priority will be given to East Rochester residents, especially those living within the immediate vicinity of the property.

An informal panel of representatives from Economic Development, Planning and Development, Public Safety, and Recreation will be present to answer general questions and concerns raised by attendees. No formal presentation is planned as there are no official proposals for the property at this time.

A geotechnical study to determine the soil conditions is scheduled for later in the year. This study will assist in understanding the overall soil conditions at the location, which is necessary before any plans can be considered. Ultimately, City Council will be presented with recommendations based upon this data and public input to determine the future of this property.

The listening session will take place on Monday, November 13th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, in the gymnasium of the East Rochester School, located at 773 Portland Street. The session is open to the public and the neighborhood is strongly encouraged to participate.
