What do I need if my vehicle or trailer is exempt from title?

Vehicles and Trailers are exempt from Title if they are 1999 and older. Trailers are also exempt if their GRVW is less than 3,001 lbs.

In order to register an exempt vehicle or trailer, you will need:

1. Bill of Sale With the Following Information (Requirements per RSA 261:148)

•  The date of the sale;
•  A description of the vehicle including:
  • a)            Make;
  • b)            Model;
  • c)            Vehicle identification number;
  • d)            Model year;
  • e)            Year of manufacture;
  • f)             Type of body; and
  • g)            Number of cylinders.
• Name, address and signature of buyer; and
• Name, address and signature of seller.

2. Proof of VIN

• Vin Verification Form (Completed by NH Inspection Station or NH Law Enforcement Officer) OR
• Previous NH Registration from Seller OR
• Previous Title
