NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that the Rochester City Council will conduct a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers in the City Hall, 31 Wakefield Street, Rochester, New Hampshire, regarding the development and formulation of the City of Rochester’s FY 2018-2019 Community Development Block Grant (“CDBG”) Program Annual Action Plan, which is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Projects under consideration for the FY 2018-2019 Plan include: homeless shelter services, educational services, construction of chronically homeless housing, weatherization of low-income homes, and installation of a chairlift at Maple St. Magnet School.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD

REGARDING CDBG 2018-20189 DRAFT ACTION PLAN

In accordance with federal regulations governing the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, public input will be solicited for 30 days, beginning on March 1, 2018, to comment on the proposed CDBG Annual Action Plan. The CDBG Annual Action Plan identifies how the City plans to use the federal money during the next fiscal year to meet the goals and objectives that were approved by the City Council in the Five-Year Consolidated Action Plan FY 2015-2020. 

Draft FY 2018-2019 Annual Action Plan Summary:  Based on an estimated grant amount of $226,070, the following activities are proposed for use of CDBG funds for FY July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019:  Administration and Planning- $45,214; Public Services- $33,910.50; Projects including Housing, Economic Development and Facilities/Infrastructure- $172,845.92 ($146,945.50 + $25,900.42 in prior year CDBG funds). It is estimated that 99.1% of funding will serve low to moderate income residents.

Public Comment Period

The draft Annual Action Plan will be available for a 30-day public review and comment period beginning March 1, 2018, after which time all comments will be forwarded to the U.S. Department of HUD. A PUBLIC HEARING will be held on April 17, 2018 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Citizens are invited to attend this hearing to comment on the proposed Annual Action Plan.
