July 2021 meeting highlights from the Rochester Government Channel

City Council Public Hearing and Meeting 7/6/21 Items included: Public Hearing - Placement of Proposed Charter Amendments on the November 2021 Municipal Ballot.  Announcement of City Council, Ward 2 Seat A vacancy, School Board Ward 4 vacancy. Election of Councilor David Walker to Deputy Mayor. Reports of Council Committees. Old Business - Discussion and vote on Charter Amendments to be placed on the November 2021 municipal ballot.

Full School Board Meeting 7/8/21 Items included: Superintendent’s Report and Communications (which included open positions for the school district, and presentation on Back to School Plan.) Public Comment, Committee Reports, and more.

Planning Board 7/12/21 The Planning Board reviewed and took action on numerous applications for construction, sub-divisions, multi-unit development, and compliance hearing discussion.

Finance Committee 7/13/21 Items included: Public Input, Fire Department CIP request for Living Quarters Upgrade, Position Changes: Patron Services Supervisor & Legal Assistant II, Amendments to Non-Union Merit Plan. Reports from Finance & Administration -Monthly Financial Report Summaries Revenues & Expenses.

Zoning Board of Adjustment 7/14/21 The Zoning Board heard several cases for special exceptions and variances for private and commercial businesses.

Public Works and Buildings Committee 7/15/21 Items included: Public Input, Downtown Decorative Lighting-extended lighting request, DPW Facility Update, 28 North Main –Street Moratorium Waiver, Other.

Planning Board 7/19/21 Items included: Public Input, Discussion on surety for Chesley Farm Estates, Granite Ridge Development District – Residential Zoning change discussion, Discussion on building height requirements in the Downtown Commercial zone, and Review of June 2021 surety and inspections.

City Council Public Hearing, Special Meeting, Workshop 7/20/21 Agenda items included: two Public Hearings: CDBG grant - Gafney Home, and Supplemental Appropriation/Rt 11 Pump Station. Workshop portion included: Public Input, statements from City Council Ward 2 Seat A and School Board Ward 4, Seat A candidates, Presentation: Downtown Parking Study, 79-E Properties summary update (postponed until August 17), Code of Ethics/ Ethics Committee update, Department Reports, and Other. Public Safety Committee 7/21/21 Public Input, Crosswalk Request Linscott Court, Squamanagonic Fence, Flat Rock Bridge Road/Salmon Falls Road Intersection Safety Concerns, Stop Sign Request-Janet Street, E911 Update, Emergency Management Update, COVID-19 Statistics Update, Other.

School Board Special Meeting 7/22/21 The School Board met to conduct a special meeting for Personnel recommendations for the upcoming school year. The meeting also included public comment.
